Hadeeth pertaining to Eating :

Hazrat Aishah Radiyallahu-Anha reported: Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “When any of you wants to eat, he should mention the Name of Allah in the begining, (i.e., say Bismillah). If he forgets to do it in the beginning, he should say Bismillah Awwalahu wa Aakhirahu ie ( I begin with the Name of Allah at the beginning and at the end).” [At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud]

وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
“And your Lord says: ‘Call upon Me, I will answer you” ~ Surah Ghaafir 40:60

. . .

During Ibadat, like Salaat, a person fully submits before Allah through making ruku, sujood, supplicating, glorifying and praising Allah …

Similarly, in Dua, a person is engaged in begging from Allah Ta’ala … He raises his hands- his ‘begging bowl’ and submits to Allah Ta’ala, directing all his attention towards to Him alone, displaying his total dependance on Allah Ta’ala, for all his needs …

Nabi Sallallaahu ‘alaihi Wasallam said : الدُّعَاءُ مُخُّ الْعِبَادَةِ “Dua is the essence of Ibadah (worship).” [Tirmdhi]

Nabi Sallallaahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam used to supplicate with All~Encompassing and Comprehensive Duas :

“Allahumma Rabbana Aatina fid-dunya hasanatan wafil- Akhirati hasanatan waqina azaaban Naar.” ~ Oh Allah, our Lord, give us  the good of this world, and the good of the life hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the hell-fire.

“Allahumma inni as’alukal-huda, wat-tuqa, wal-`afafa, wal-ghina ~ O Allah! I beseech You for guidance, piety, chastity and contentment.’ ~ [Muslim]

“Allahummaghfirli Warhamni Wahdini Warzuqni Wa-Afini” ~ O Allah, forgive me, show mercy on me, guide me, provide for me, and grant me security.

Allah! None is worthy of worship but He, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting.  Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth belongs to Him alone. Who can dare intercede with Him except by His permission? HE knows all that happens before the Creation and after them; and they cannot encompass anything of His knowledge except that which He wills. His Throne  encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the protection of both the earth and the heavens does not pose Him any difficulty. He alone is Most High, Most Great ~  Ayatul Kursi ~ Surah Al Baqarah 2:255

Tafseer of Surah Baqarah ~ Explanation of Selected Verses / 255 / Ayaatul Kursi

Hadith Pertaining to Ayatul Kursi :

1. It is narrated from Hazrat Ubay ibn Ka’b Radiyallahu-Anhu that the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam asked, “Abu Mundhir, do you know which verse of Allah’s book is the greatest?”… I replied, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He repeated his question and I said, “Allahu La ilaha illa Huwal Hayyul Qayyum.” …. Thereupon he struck me on the chest and said, “May Knowledge become easy for you Abu Mundhir!”  ~ (Muslim)

….

2. Hazrat Abu Umamah Radiyallahu-Anhu relates that Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said, “Whoever recites Aayatul Kursi after every obligatory prayer nothing except death prevents him from entering heaven.”  ~ (Nasai)

….

3. Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu anhu said, “Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam appointed me to take charge of the Zakaat of Ramadhaan. At night someone came to me and began to take up handfuls of the food. I seized him and told him I was certainly going to take him to Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

However, when he said, “I am needy, I have children dependent on me, and I have a pressing need.” I let him go.

In the morning the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam asked, “What happened to your prisoner last night, Abu Hurairah” I replied, “O’ Messenger of Allah, he complained of great need and of having children dependant on him, so I had pity on him and let him go.”

He said, “He lied to you and he will come back.” I realised that he would return because Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam had told me so. Therefore, I lay waiting for him. When he came and began to take up handfuls of food, I seized him and told him I am certainly going to take you before Allah’s Messenger.

He said, “Let me go, for I am needy with children dependent on me, and I shall not return.” I had pity on him and let him go.

In the morning, Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam asked me, “What happened to your prisoner, Abu Hurairah?”

I replied, “Messenger of Allah, he complained of great need and of having children dependent on him, so I had pity on him and let him go.”

Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “He has certainly lied to you, and he will come back.”

So, I lay in wait for him, and when he came back and took up handfuls of food I seized him and said, “I am certainly going to take you before Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, for this is the third time you are asserting you will not return, but you always do.”

He said, “If you let me go I will teach you some words by which Allah will reward you. When you go to your bed recite the “Verse of the Throne”, till you finish the verse, a guardian from Allah will then remain over you and no devil will come near you till the morning.”

Therefore, I let him go, and in the morning Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam asked me, “What happened to your prisoner.”

I replied, “He asserted that he would teach me some words by which Allah will benefit me.”

He Sallallaahu alayhi Wasallam said, “He certainly told you the truth, though he is a great liar. Do you know whom you have been talking to for three nights?” When I replied that I did not, he said, “That was Shaytaan.”  ~ (Bukhari)

The Importance of Zikrullah in the Life of a Believer

bismillahh

Our heart continuously  accumulates filth ~

sins, vice, evil, malice, jealousy, anger, enmity etc

and hence becomes rusted …

All these things ‘cover and engulf our heart’.

Just like any machinary in this world requires regular servicing, cleaning and oiling …

so to, does our rusted and corroded heart need cleansing, purifying and oiling, with the Zikr of Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala.

An effective method of servicing our heart, is the Zikr of the Kalimah “La ilaaha illAllah”

….

When we say “La ilaaha“,

We are removing everything that has engulfed our heart, besides Allah Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala …

And, when we say “illAllah” …

We fill our heart Only with Allah

We have a tongue that is saying Allah

Imagine …

our hearts to have a tongue, which is saying Allah

‘together with our tongue.’

Zikrullah is very powerful and effective in helping us to remain away from Nafs and shaytaan

May Allah protect us and make us true Zaakireen…

Hasten with Good Deeds Before 7 Things

After Esha Majlis ~ 5th Shawaal 1434

bismillahh

Just as a shop owner who worked hard all month and gained a huge profit at the end of the month, will naturally be careful how he handles his earnings. Whilst some of it will be used to pay off expenses, some will be saved and a portion will also be invested so as to yield more in the future. It is inconceivable that the profit will be left unattended and forgotten, lest it be usurped.

Similarly, after our toiling in Ramadaan, the Noor with which we have been blessed, requires careful investing for our future (Aakhirah). Left unattended and forgotten, the Noor will disappear. Essentially, in order to compound and escalate that Noor, we are required to hasten towards the Mercy of Allah, by continuing the performance of good deeds and not becoming lazy and complacent.

We should not procrastinate….

It is mentioned in Hadith Sharief that Rasulullah  صلى الله عليه و سلم advised the Believers to Hasten Toward Doing Good Deeds before the following Seven Things overtake him:

* Such poverty that makes him totally forget about doing any goods

* Such wealth that cause him to transgress the Laws of ALLAH

* A deadly illness that afflicts him

* Old age and senility overtake him

* Sudden death strikes him

* The appearance of Dajaal

* The onset of Qiyamah

Indeed, before all of the above happen, a Believer should turn to ALLAH and seek the Pleasure of ALLAH by spending in the path of ALLAH.

A few of the Malfoozaath of  Hazrath Moulana Yunus Patel Sahib (RA) from ‘Hedaayatus Saalikeen’  were also discussed, that directly influence ones Love for ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala, encourages one to connect to Him and urge one to give priority to Deen and Shari’ah.

” Drowning in the ocean of an Illicit Love is a detrimental weakness because instead of giving ones heart to the Creator of hearts, one gives it to a body which is going to perish. Many are the lovers who run off like mules when age overtakes the beauty of the beloved.

The lovers of ALLAH however, have hearts filled with sukoon because The Beauty of ALLAH never perishes….”
