Contemplation ….

Excerpts from Ramadaan 1434 Programmes

bismillahh

What is the purpose of our Creation?
What is our Destination?
What Preparation have we made to reach our destination?

Alhamdulilah, through the Fadhl and Karam of ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala, we have heard many talks during Ramadaan. The essence of what we have heard includes:

1. Tauheed & Supremacy of Allah :

There is NONE WORTHY OF WORSHIP BESIDES ALLAH. Everything in the Universe has been created by and belongs to ALLAH. Everything is in the Supreme Control of ALLAH ALONE.

2. Reality of The Day of Qiyamah :

That Day on which every deed shall be brought forth and weighed, is an INDISPUTABLE Reality. ALLAH does not oppress a single soul, every being will have to account for their deeds. The successful will be admitted into Paradise and he who habitually disobeyed the commands of ALLAH and failed to seek forgiveness will be condemned to the Fire.

3. Gratitude

We need to be grateful servants of ALLAH. Indeed the bounties and favours showered upon us by HIM are innumerable. Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) would make lengthy prostrations demonstrating gratitude and he would cry out of gratitude.

4. Obedience :

What type of bond do we have with ALLAH? Indeed, the preparation we have made for the Qabr and Aakhirah is indicative of our obedience to ALLAH. We need to establish a Connection (Ta’alluq) with ALLAH – develope a penitent heart having remorse for a life of disobedience.

Make a firm intention to change ones life for the better by engaging in righteous deeds and treading on Siraat e Mustaqeem.

5.  Stay in the company of the righteous and pious :

The company one keeps has a colossal effect upon the kinds of deeds one engages in. It is of paramount importance that one stays away from company which leads one away from ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala.
Drugs, Gambling, Illicit relationships, Lying, Cheating, Stealing etc all lead to a quagmire of sins and a life of misery and restlessness. A person steeped in sins drifts further and further away from ALLAH and his heart gets very corroded and heavy. As such, he does not enjoy his Ibaadat and ends up leading a life of ghaflat (negligence).

6. Repentence :

Before overtaken by Sakraat ul Mauth or the rising of the sun from the West.
Despite the magnitude and intensity of our sins, if we make sincere taubah (Taubatun Nasuha), and shed tears of repentance, we will be forgiven by ALLAH. The moment we turn to ALLAH and seek from HIM, HE becomes Pleased and ‘comes running to us’ to assist us for HE does not wish to punish the Believer. ALLAH LOVES and has more Compassion for the Believer than a doting mother has for her child.

 7. Humility :

A Believer has no place in his heart for pride and arrogance. We are all Totally dependant on ALLAH for EVERYTHING. The obstinate, proud, arrogant ones are those who disobey the commands of ALLAH. THESE are the ones who will be punished in the Blazing Fire.

~ The Mubarak month of Ramadaan abounded with mass deeni activities and because everybody engaged collectively, proved ease to practice upon the Quran and Sunnah. The challenge for each one of us is to maintain this after Ramadaan. It is up to us to make a firm resolution to persevere on Siraat e Mustaqeem. ALLAH WILL CERTAINLY HELP US but we need to make the first step.

~ May ALLAH Azza wa Jalla pull us with HIS Power of Jazb and make us from amongst HIS True friends.

A Mercy Unto All Of Creation ~ Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم

Excerpts from Ramadaan 1434 Programmes

bismillahh

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ

And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds ~ Surah Al Ambiya 21:107

~ ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala sent HIS Final Messenger and Beloved as a Mercy unto all of Creation. Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) was Rahmatul Iil Aalameen .. He was a mercy to the believers, even to the disbelievers, the men, women, orphans, prisoners, the young, the elderly, the weak, animals, nature, jinn.. All of the Creation.

~ Several incidents highlighted in Quran, seerah and hadith demonstrate the softness of the heart of The Beloved of ALLAH. To enumerate a few, the description of the occasions when Rasulullah (Sallalaahu alayhi wa salam) shed tears, will be described. The crying of Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) was neither sobbing nor wailing – never was his Mubarak voice raised. Similarly, the laughing of Rasulullaah was not loud nor excessive. Muhaditheen describe both the crying and laughing of RasulUllah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) both moderate and restrained.

~ Rasulullaah  (صلى الله عليه و سلم) used to cry-:

– when he feared evil would befall his Ummat,
– during moments of intense spiritual introspection,
– while reading or listening to the Quran e Majeed. His mubarak tears were thus prompted by Love, Longing, and an Intense Feeling to Glorify ALLAH Subhaana wa Ta’aala.

~ Once Hazrat Bilal (RA) asked Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) why he cried so much, when he knew that his past and present sins were forgiven. Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) replied saying that why should he not be a grateful servant of Allah (his crying was out of Gratitude to ALLAH for His innumerable favours) … Then He said that the verse, ‘The Creation of the Heavens and the Earth and the alternation of the Night and Day are signs for those who ponder’, was revealed to him Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) said: woe unto those who do not take heed and ponder.

~ The sound emanating from the mubarak chest of RasulUllah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) when he cried was described by the Sahaba (RA) as ‘a wheezing sound from a boiler’

~ Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) once asked Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (RA) to recite Quran Sharief so that he may listen. When the verse in the 5th Juz ‘How will it be when WE bring from each nation a witness and WE bring you O Muhammad as witness before them’ was recited, Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) cried out ‘Hasbuk! Hasbuk!’ (Stop the recitation now. That was sufficient) and his eyes were overflowing with tears. This was his love for us!

~ On several occasions at the death of a family member or Sahabi, Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) cried:

* When Ebrahim (RA), the beloved son of RasulUllah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) passed away and he cried and was questioned by Hazrat Abdurahman bin Auf (RA) about this, Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) said that it was Mercy making him cry and that crying is natural, at a loss of a loved one but a believer NEVER utters that which is displeasing to ALLAH. This is when a person must exercise complete Sabr and be pleased with the Decision of ALLAH ( Ridha bil Qadha).

* When the daughter (Umme Kulsum) of RasulUllah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) passed away, he perched over her qabr and cried. Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) has said that ‘Verily the Believer is in a state of complete goodness in every situation’ … Even at the time of Death, the Believer praises ALLAH Rabbul Izzat.

* At the death of his infant grandson, Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) cried while holding the frail infant and described his mubarak tears as ‘Mercy which ALLAH has placed in the hearts of his slaves’. ‘Verily ALLAH has Mercy on all of HIS slaves that are merciful to others’. ‘ Verily what ALLAH takes and gives belongs to HIM and everything has its appointed time’.

~ Aarifbillah Hazrath Moulana Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Sahib (RA) once mentioned, that sometimes when one remains ‘pent-up’ and does not allow oneself to cry and let out the sorrow over a loss, could cause the person to become ill.

~ Whilst remembering the martyrs of Muta (near Jordan), Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) cried. He was informed by ALLAH of their situation and described as he cried, the scenario on the battle field, how Zaid (RA), then Ja’far (RA), then Abdullah bin Rawaha (RA) one by one became shaheed and how the banner of the Muslims was then taken up by Khalid bin Waleed (RA).

~ Once, whilst crying at a qabr the soil below his mubarak feet became soaked with his tears, Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) reminded the Sahaba (RA) to remember death and prepare for the Aakhirat.

~ The night before the Battle of Badr, every Sahabi who participated, slept soundly. Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) however spent the entire night praying and crying before ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala.

~ At the time of a solar or lunar eclipse, RasulUllah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) would perform a special salaah. On one such occasion, he prostrated so long and cried, then blew as he stood up and Praised ALLAH. He explained how Jahanam had appeared before him and he blew it, fearing that it may descend upon the people and punish them!

~ What Love! Not a day went by in the life of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم) that he did not cry ‘Allahuma Ummati, Ummati!’. On one such occasion ALLAH (Despite knowing why), sent Jibraeel (AS) to ask Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) why he was crying. His reply was that he was crying out of mercy and compassion for his nation, as he was worried what their condition and plight would be on the Day of Qiyaamah…… ALLAH sent a message informing Rasulullaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) ‘Verily WE will please you regarding your Ummah and WE will not give you cause to be grieved about them’

HOW HAVE WE SHOWN APPRECIATION FOR OUR Nabi (صلى الله عليه و سلم)!!! He cried for EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US, right upto the Day of Qiyamah……Do we have softness in our hearts? Do we emulate his pristine example? How much of the Sunnah is in our lives?

~ Rasulullaah  (صلى الله عليه و سلم) used to make dua for eyes that shed tears……. as such eyes cannot be touched by the Blazing Fire of Jahanam.

May ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala bless us with soft, merciful hearts and enable us to show compassion to mankind….

An Explanation of Selected Verses of Surah Al Qadr and of the 30th Juz

Excerpts from Ramadaan 1434 Programmes

bismillahh

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ
Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ
And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree?
لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ
The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.
تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ
The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.
سَلَامٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ
Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.
Surah Al Qadr 97

~ We, the Ummah of Rasulullah Sallallaahu alayhi wa salam have been given Ramadaan. It has been the experience of many of the Ahlullah and Mashaaikh that Lailatul Qadr happened on the 27th night of this Mubarak month. As the exact date is known Only to ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala (and it could be any of the odd nights of the last 10 days of  Ramadaan) … Tonight we may have reached the climax of Ramadaan wherein lies ‘a night better than a  thousand months’ Allah knows best!

~ All Praise is Only for ALLAH who has permitted us to fast, to
engage in Ibaadat, to listen to the  ilaawat of the Quran Sharief in Taraaweeh. Although, khatam of Quran-e-Majeed was completed today, recitation of the next khatam was initiated immediately because this is our Guide till the Day of Qiyamah and we must ‘hold fast to ‘The Rope of ALLAH’. We need to demonstrate sincerity and gratitude for all with which we have been blessed.

~ This most honorable Kitaab (Ashraful Kutub) was revealed upon the heart of Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu alayhi wa salam – The most Honorable of the Ambiyaa, brought by the most Honorable Angel (Jibraeel AS), in the most Honorable of Cities (Makkah Mukarramah) in the most Honourable night -Lailatul Qadr (The Night of Power).

~ Once again, in the 30th Juz, ALLAH Rabbul Izzat directs our attention to the “Aakhirah” which is our final destination. In most of our recent talks we have highlighted the importance of gratitude and turning our attention towards ALLAH Ta’aala, the Rabb of The Universe.  ALLAH is the One who Nurtures, Nourishes, Cares for and Loves us all. HE has made us in the Best of Forms and most beautiful. All HE wants is for us to have firm belief in His Oneness (Tauheed) and to do righteous deeds. When we slip and oppress ourselves by sinning, HE desires that we turn to Him and repent.

Whilst the following is not a Tafseer of all the surahs we heard tonight ie : from Surah Dhuha till Naas, but we see in each Surah a verse drawing our attention to the same theme we have been explaining the past few nights :

Allahs supremacy, His Oneness, preparing for Aakhirah, not amassing wealth, the Day of Reckoning, weighing of our deeds, the importance of time, doing righteous deeds etc …

We are informed, advised, admonished:

In Surah Dhuha Verse 4….that the Akhirah is better than the Dunya,

In Surah Inshiraah Verse 8….to turn towards our Rabb

In Surah Teen Verse 6….the importance of Imaan and righteous deeds

In Surah Alaq Verse 1….reading in the name of our Rabb

In Surah Qadar Verse 1.the importance of Quraan and the Night of power

In Surah Bayyinah Verse 8….Jannat is for the one fearing Allah

In Surah Zilzaal Verse 7….All our actions will be presented to us on the Day of Qiyaamah

In Surah Al-Aadiyaat Verse 6….being loyal and grateful to Allah.

In Surah Al-Qaari’ah Verse 8….the weighing of our deeds

In Suah At takaathur Verse 1….obsession of wealth causes negligence of the Hereafter

In Surah Asr Verse 1….the value and importance  of time

In Surah Humaza Verse 2….the harms of amassing wealth

In Surah Feel.the might and power of Allah

In Surah Quraish…..the ease & comfort we enjoy, and we should worship only Allah

In Surah Kauthar…..the reward of drinking from the fountain of Kauthar from the hands of Rasulullah salalahu alayhi wasalam.

In Surah Kaafiroon….not compromising our Deen

In Surah Nasr…..the importance of Istighfaar

In Surah Lahab…..the consequence of rejecting Deen

….

~ In the final three Surahs of Quran-e-Majeed (Surah Ahad, Surah Falaq, Surah Naas) … The Oneness and Power of Allah

* During Ramadaan we focussed extensively on :
Tilawat, Taqwa and Taubah. (3 T’s)

As a result of these, we have accumulated Noor in our hearts. The way forward, after the moon of Shawaal is sighted, is to preserve and add to this Noor. We should not be foolish and fail to nurture it.

An Explanation of Selected Verses of Surahs of the 30th Juz

Excerpts from ~ Ramadaan 1434 Programmes

bismillahh

: An Explanation of Selected Verses of Surahs of the 30th Juz

  : The Central Theme Throughout

The 30th Juz of Quraan-e-Majeed is the Tauheed (Oneness) of ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala, His Supremacy, Grandeur which is manifest in His creation, and also resurrection of mankind and the reality of Qiyaamah.

~ The Day of Qiyaamah is mentioned throughout the entire Quran Sharief by various descriptions: The Day of Catastrophe, The Day of the Deafening sound, The Overwhelming Event.

The Horrors of Qiyaamah are Evident in these Verses :

The Surahs of the 30th Juz of the Quran-e-Majeed are short and abound with stern warnings. Mufassireen say it is like the sharp wrapping at the door of one who is in a deep slumber … In order to jolt him into an awake and alert state to take heed of the Reality that EVERY SINGLE BEING will have to present himself and account for his deeds to ALLAH, LORD and MASTER of the UNIVERSE

Allah Ta’ala says:

يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنسَانُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الْكَرِيمِ
O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّاكَ فَعَدَلَكَ
Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?
فِي أَيِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَاءَ رَكَّبَكَ
In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
 Surah Al Infitaar 82: 6/7/8

~ Despite all of us being totally unworthy, ALLAH has bestowed upon us so many favours (our Imaan, our health, our wealth, our intelligence, our beauty, being from the Ummat of His Greatest Creation and Beloved … To enumerate only a few)

~ ALLAH is FULL of Justice and will reward everybody according to what they used to do. The Believer will be rewarded with Jannah and the obstinate disbelievers will be admitted to Jahannum to reside there permanently.

أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
Then do they not look at the camels – how they are created?
وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
And at the sky – how it is raised?
وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
And at the mountains – how they are erected?
وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
And at the earth – how it is spread out?
Surah Al Ghaashiyah 88: 17-20

~ ALLAH exhorts mankind to look at the creation of ALLAH AND TAKE HEED? ….Do they not look at the camel (their conveyance). Do they not look up at the sky and reflect … Are there any defects (fissure/ flaws/ cracks) in the sky which has been raised up above them? Do the disbelievers think that they are stronger than the sky? If they have not seen clearly, they are advised to look again. What of the land and scenery (mountains)… Do they not reflect?

~ Indeed the sky is beautiful and fortified and the land levelled and the mountains firmly erected by ONE RABB!

~ These warnings apply to us as Believers too, for our condition is such that we believe in The Day of Qiyaamah but our behaviour is contrary to our belief. On That Day when there will be NO interpreter between us and ALLAH, and each of us will have to come alone and account for every deed … Have we prepared?

~ A Believer who prepares for That Day of Horror, by obeying the commands of ALLAH and Rasulullaah Sallallaahu alayhi wa salam, ALLAH expands his heart and fills it with Noor. A sign of this (as mentioned in Hadith Sharief) is that the person detaches himself from the World and its Deception and focuses on Aakhirat.

~ When death occurs, it is as if Qiyamah has already begun for the deceased because he has to answer the questions of the Qabr and remain in Aalam e Barzakh until the Day of Ressurection. That Day, when the trumpet is blown and everyone proceeds for Reckoning, is Horrifying indeed.

فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ

So as for he who transgressed

وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا
And preferred the life of the world,
فَإِنَّ الْجَحِيمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ
Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge.
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ
But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination,
فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ
Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.
Surah An Naziaat 79: 37-41

~  ALLAH says that for the one who transgresses and prefers Dunya over Aakhirat, his abode will be Jahannum. For the one fears ALLAH and restrains himself (not submitting to his base desires), Jannat will be his abode.
