The Shining Stars ~ Moulana Naeem Motala Saheb DB

bismillahh

The Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Anhum) were the profound and honoured people Allah Ta’ala had chosen. The Noble Qur’an and Ahaadith exemplify the magnificent status of these ‘Shining Stars’. The Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Anhum) gave everything for this beautiful Deen and sacrificed their entire lives for the continuity of Islam. We make Du’a Allah Ta’ala inculcates the love of our Deen in every crevice of our hearts and that the impeccable lives of the Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Anhum) reflect into our lives  … Every person is given the opportunity to be a great person like the Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Anhum), through their hardships and opportunities to succeed. ‘We can’t be them but we can be like them’ …  How could you be like them if you don’t love them? How could you love them if you don’t acquire knowledge about them?

Taking us back to the era of Rasulullah~ Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, it brings alive the rightful ‘Role Models’ who watered the garden of Islam with their blood … In these sincere and detailed discussions, one cannot escape from being engrossed in the experiences of these flag bearers of Islam, who have taught us the true value of our Deen!

……

In an extract taken from Majlis Programme discussing the Sahaba ~  Hadrat Abu Darda RadiAllahu Anhu, Moulana Naeem Motala Saheb DB explains :

There are those in this world, (Allah Ta’ala protect us) that become consumed, absorbed, engrossed by the embellishments of this world, that they have no time for Allah Ta’ala (Allah Ta’ala protect us) . Then there are those who try to do both, try to make some Ibadat and try to attain some Dunya, but of course many still become heedless of Allah Ta’ala. Then there are those who spend more time in the Ibaadat of Allah Ta’ala whilst acquiring their dunya.

But then … there is one stage above all of these people … they are those people who forsake the world, they renounce the world, they have no love or attachment whatsoever. It is very easy to claim that I have no love for the world but these people opted for a very simple life. They were prepared to eat dry bread, they were prepared to live for days without food whatsoever. Their homes were absolutely simple. Their clothing extremely simple. Their wives were also prepared to make the sacrifice. They got some type of enjoyment. They derived some type of closeness to Allah Ta’ala and pleasure in this simple way of life of theirs ….

Dont be Angry!

We find that it is quite common that people say, I do not have complete control over myself, I lose my temper very quickly, I become angry very easily, I am unable to restrain myself, I get provoked very quickly, I blurt out things which I later regret. At times I become violent, I use my force against those with whom I am angry with. I just erupt. I become enraged and infuriated. I have no control over myself whatsoever. No control over my tongue, my mind. I lose my senses and many a times I have blurted out the word Talaaq to my wife in that state and condition.

The problem of anger is a common problem. Scholars have mentioned it is ‘from the promptings of shaytaan’. The insinuations of shaytaan. The provocations of shaytaan. He incites you. He spurs you on, to lose yourself … to give vent to your anger. A man becomes so infuriated, enraged, he has reached boiling point, like how we have a volcano that erupts and the magma erupts out. Or, we have a pressure cooker and if the heat is not lowered then we find that the lid will burst open and everything will spill and boil over. We do not realise how detrimental this weakness in man is. This illness which is a very common illness.

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam advised a person who came to him and said : “Give me some advice”. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam perhaps knew the condition and the weakness of this particular Sahabi because of his interaction with the others. Or probably He was inspired at the time by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’aala and He advised him with just one simple word, “Lā taghdab” (Don’t become angry). He asked again for another advice, “Ya Rasulullah~ Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam give me more advice”. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam repeated the same advice, “Lā taghdab” (Don’t become angry). Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam repeated the same advice several times despite this Sahabi asking Him for something different (a new advice). Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam still advised him with the same advice : “Lā taghdab” (Don’t become angry).

In other words you must control yourself when you are prompted to give vent to your anger …

When a person loses himself, his heart rate goes faster, his blood pressure rises, he lose’s his senses, he lose’s his mind … Anger is directly related to shaytaan, the whisperings of shaytaan, the promptings of shaytaan, the incitement from shaytaan. So when man goes beyond the bounds, he exceeds the limits and he does not control and restrain himself, he does not contain himself, but he passes and exceeds the limits, then even his physical form, his facial expression changes. He looks very ugly indeed. We don’t see ourselves becoming angry, others see us. But if a person, when he is enraged, fuming and angry takes a mirror and looks at himself at that time. His face looks terrible …

Yes, man has this quality of becoming angry but this quality of anger has to be channelled in the right place at the right time with the right people. When you are opposing your nafs and desires, your ego’s and passions. That is the time when you should channel your anger, towards your nafs, towards the promptings of shaytaan. A strong person is that person who controls himself when he is angered. Now he is mindful, he is watchful, he thinks before he says or does anything. He has complete control over his anger. He subdues himself. Then he is regarded in Shariat to be a strong person.

The effects of anger is such … We have honey … and everybody says ‘it is as sweet as honey’. The sweetness of honey every one of us has tasted and experienced. But there is a plant known as the aloe plant … when this plant is dipped into honey, the bitterness of this plant spoils the sweetness of that honey entirely. The jar of absolutely sweet honey that you had disappears immediately when that aloe plant is mixed with that honey. That aloe plant is absolutely bitter. Rasulullah~ Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has given us this analogy, and He says that, ‘Anger spoils a persons Imaan’ just like how the aloe plant destroys the sweetness of that honey. Look at the effects of Anger!

Therefore Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said, ‘Anger is from shaytaan’. When one of you becomes angry, He says, ‘shaytaan has been created from fire and fire is extinguished by water.’ So when one of you becomes angry what is the Ilaaj (remedy)? He must make whudu and he must cool himself down. One Hadith says if the person is standing, he must sit down, if he is sitting he must lie down …

The Benefits of a person who suppresses his Anger …

~ Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’aala will remove ‘His’ anger away from this person on the day of Qiyamah.

~ Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’aala will fill his heart with peace, tranquility, serenity and Imaan.

~ Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’aala will call him in front of the entire mankind of the day of Qiyamah and Allah will give him the choice of Hoor-al-Ayn that he wishes in the hereafter.

Let us suppress and control ourselves….

Illahi Gunehgaar Bandah Hu Me

Listen Here

Oh Allah! I am filled with sins. Oh Allah! I’m a wicked person. I’m a cruel person. I’m an evil person. I’ve got no piety in me. There’s nothing right about me …

And we all have this feeling. Again and again. How often a person says that ‘I need to make Islaah of myself’. I’m trying. I just want to change my life. I want to come out of this filthy life of mines. Day and night I’m sinning. Committing zinaa, casting lustful glances. My tongue, I’m only speaking lies, I’m cheating, I’m deceiving the people. I can feel I’m trapped in world of Ghufflat (Heedlessness) and filth and evil. I’m looking for some escape, some exit from here …

I’ve got no strength to refrain from sins. I’m so weak. And I don’t even have the strength, I don’t even have the courage, to do righteous deeds. This is my condition.

Oh Allah! If it is Your intention Ya Allah! Ya Allah if it is Your will. Ya Allah! You are Kareem! The One who gives so much and is so Generous and the recipients of those bounties don’t even deserve those things. You and I get so much from Allah. We don’t deserve getting those Ni’mats (bounties) from Allah. Allah still gives. “We don’t deserve this”. Allah still gives us these favors. Oh Allah! If it is Your Iraada (intention), then even with the bat of an eyelid, one wink of our eyes, Oh Allah! You can forgive us. This Bandah (servant), La’eem (wicked), wicked, cruel, evil, filthy …

Ya Allah! From Your unseen sources, Ya Allah! Ghayb (unseen). Ya Allah! You create the means for this sinful servant of Yours. Ya Allah! To stay away and refrain from sin. I’m tempted all the time. When I go to my office and there are those pretty faces around me, as much as I am trying, I am getting caught in those pretty faces again and again …

Oh Allah! If it is Your help, Your assistance with me. If Your Nusrat (assistance) is with me, then what fear do I then have of nafs and shaytaan. When Allah is with us, then we’ve got that strength. That nafs and shaytaan which is trying desperately to pin us down, subdue us. And in this wrestling match with nafs all the time. When Allah’s help comes then we are victorious. There is nothing to fear then …

Oh Allah! I am Your Bandah (servant). Only by name. I’ve got a muslim name. A believers name. I am Abdullah, Abdur-Rahmaan. Servant of Allah. Servant of Rahmaan. Ya Allah! Just name only. Ya Allah! Out of Your Karam, Your help, Your favour, Your kindness, make me of some benefit, make me useful in life …

Oh Allah! This fickle-mindedness. A person is not constant. Sometimes he is very hot-headed, shouting at everybody. And sometime you see him opposite. Or he loses himself very easily with his family, but in front of his friends he’s like a sheep. Ya Allah! With your help and assistance, you give me this resoluteness Ya Allah! To change this type of Mizaaj (temperament) of mines …
