The Status and Responsibilities of a Hafidh of the Qur’aan

….

The Qur’aan-e-Majeed which came down from the heavens via Jibra’eel AS, was revealed to Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam as a source of mercy and guidance by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, for all mankind … This is no ordinary book! These weighty and powerful words contain lessons, advices, guidelines and an invitation from Allah towards Allah … It is cure to all doubts, spiritual diseases and physical ailments, for those who ponder and bring into practice the teachings of the Qur’aan.

Whoever loves the Qur’aan-e-Majeed, in reality it is because of the love he has for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala …

Those who are carrying the Qur’aan-e-Majeed within their hearts are chosen and selected through the Grace and Mercy of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala to imbibe these words into their chests … A person may acquire the treasures of the world, but when the Qur’aan-e-Majeed is committed to memory and infiltrates into the heart of a Hafidh, it is a far greater investment.

A Hafidh who abides by the laws and injunctions of the Qur’aan-e-Majeed and does not abandon or forsake the Qur’aan, nor does he exceed the limits, acquires a high status in the eyes of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. This Kalamullah (Word of Allah) is one of the best things a person can acquire and gather for his Hereafter …

“Whoever reads the Quran and memorises it, while he regards what it makes lawful as lawful and its unlawful as forbidden (i.e. he practises according to it), Allah Ta’ala will admit him into Jannah and will accept his intercession on behalf of ten such persons of his family who were doomed to the fire of Jahannum” (Tirmidhi)

Service your Heart

In this world, we possess appliances, machines, cars, buildings … These material possessions that we own, require maintenance and a service regularly to function optimally. If we do not repair those deficiencies that are found in them, they will become dilapidated and lose value.

Likewise, the spiritual hearts that we possess, require maintenance. For the efficient functioning of our spiritual heart, we are required to service and oil our hearts regularly …

How do we service this Soul of ours?

By making the Zikr of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala … When we recite the Zikr of Allah, then we are not depriving our spiritual heart of its nourishment and it’s regular service … If we do not maintain this spiritual heart, we will go into a spiritual ebb (a spiritual low) … Heedlessness enters our heart and we become negligent and lazy. Not being conscious of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala eventually leads to the death of the spiritual heart … We should seclude ourselves every single day for a few minutes and make Muraqabah (meditation) and the Zikr of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala

Bay’ah of Women

Surah Al-Mumtahinah ~ 60:12

O Prophet! When believing women come to thee to take the oath of fealty to thee, that they will not associate in worship any other thing whatever with Allah, that they will not steal, that they will not commit adultery (or fornication), that they will not kill their children, that they will not utter slander, intentionally forging falsehood, and that they will not disobey thee in any just matter,- then do thou receive their fealty, and pray to Allah for the forgiveness (of their sins): for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful….

The Qur’an mentions the verses regarding the Baya’h of the believing women and their pledge of allegiance to Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, upon Islam and Imaan … When the Sahabiyat took Bay’ah, they were loyal and sincere …

Why do we take Bay’ah today? The intention of Bay’ah is Islaah (self-reformation). The Maqsud (purpose) of pledging allegiance to a Shakyh (spiritual mentor) is to connect ourselves to Allah, to want that transformation in ourselves, to become Allah’s true friend, to bring Ikhlaas (sincerity) into our life and to cleanse and purify our hearts … So often, instead of informing the Shaykh of our weaknesses and rectifying our deficiencies, we surrender to the ongoing battle with nafs and shaytaan, which are detrimental to our Imaan and Deen.

When we have a connection with a Shaykh and make Islaah of our spiritual maladies, then the true purpose and goal of moving towards Allah in this road of Sulook are attained.

The Prohibition of Interest ~ Riba`

Interest (Riba’) is a major sin (Haraam). It brings you no Barakah whatsoever. Outwardly it seems that you are getting an increase, but you will undoubtedly experience some loss, misery or calamity in your life. Instead of bringing society closer, it divides it. The rich become richer … the poor become poorer … Islam shows us that Riba’ (Usury) brings harm to society. Allah openly declares ‘war’ against those people who are involved in Interest …

Hadith pertaining to Interest (Riba’)

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 3327 ~ Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas’ud : Rasullulah Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam, cursed the one who accepted usury, the one who paid it, the witness to it, and the one who recorded it.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 8.840 ~ Narrated by Abu Huraira : Rasullulah Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam said, “Avoid the seven great destructive sins.” They (the people) asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! What are they?” He said, “To join partners in worship with Allah; to practice sorcery; to kill the life which Allah has forbidden except for a just cause (according to Islamic law); to eat up usury (Riba), to eat up the property of an orphan; to give one’s back to the enemy and fleeing from the battlefield at the time of fighting and to slander chaste innocent simple believing women.”

*Interest ~ Riba` is a loan with the condition that the borrower will return to the lender more than that he borrowed.”
