Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ Oppression in Islam

bismillahh

Hadith

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said:
“Beware of oppression (Zulm), for oppression will be darkness (Zulumaat) on the Day of Resurrection.” ~ Muslim

Oppressing people is not something that we should take lightly! If we make an introspection within ourselves and search deep down our own lives, then we will realize that we are also guilty of oppression in many ways …

Perhaps we may not behave as tyranicle as the tyrants of the past, like Firaun and others were … but, we too hurt and torture people, mentally and emotionally,  through our harsh words (abusive language) and by our despicable and brutal actions …

If we truly love Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and realise His greatness and acknowledge the Day of Reckoning, (when we have to stand before Allah), then we will not follow our passions and desires by behaving arrogantly and harshly towards others.

Hadith

Hazrat Thawbaan رضي الله عنه (the freed slave of Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم) narrated that Nabi صلى اللهعليه وسلم said:

يوشك الأمم أن تداعى عليكم كما تدعى الأكلة إلى قصعتها , فقال قائل: و من قلة نحن يومئذ  قال: بل أنتم يومئذ كثير و لكنكم غثاء كغثاء السيل و لينزعن الله من صدور عدوكم المهابة منكم و ليقذفن الله في قلوبكم الوهن , فقال قائل يا رسول الله و ما الوهن ? قال حب الدنيا و كراهية الموت

Allah will remove the fear of you from the hearts of your enemies and put Wahn into your hearts.” It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, what is Wahn?” Heصلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Love for the dunya and hatred for death.”

Lesson from Hadith Shareef ~ Holding Firmly onto the Sunnah and Abstaining from Bid’ah

bismillahh

Hadeeth

Hazrat ‘Irbaad bin Saariyah RadhiyAllahu Anhu narrates: “Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam preached to us one day after Fajr with utmost eloquence which caused the eyes to tear and the hearts to tremble. A man then said: “Definitely this is the advice of a person bidding farewell, hence what do you command us with O Messenger of Allah? He (Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “I command you with Taqwa (the fear of Allah) and the listening and obedience even (if your leader be) an Abyssinian slave. Verily who lives from amongst you will observe such dissension. Save yourself from newly invented matters because it is definitely misguidance. Whosoever reaches that era from amongst you then hold on to my Sunnah and Sunnah of the rightly guided Khulafa. Bite upon it (the Sunnah) with the molars (i.e. cling on to it) ~ Tirmizi

وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ قَوْلًا مِّمَّن دَعَا إِلَى اللَّهِ
And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah ~ (Surah Fussilat 41:33)

Hadeeth

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “If the people knew what (reward) there is in the call (Adhan) and praying in the first row, and there was no other way to settle the matter than drawing lots, then they would draw lots for it”. (Bukhari and Muslim)

Hazrat Ibn ‘Umar RA narrates that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said : The Muazzin will receive forgiveness to the extent the voice of his Adhan reaches; every living and non-living thing that hears his voice, supplicates for his forgiveness. In another narration it is stated: Every living and nonliving thing replies to his Adhan. (Musnad Ahmad, Tabarani, Bazzar, Majma’uz-Zawaid)

These, and many other Ahaadeeth point out the “Great Virtues” of calling out the Azaan and in standing in the first Saf (row) for Salaah in Jamaat.
