Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ Etiquettes of Seeking Permission when Entering the Home

bismillahh

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَدْخُلُوا بُيُوتًا غَيْرَ بُيُوتِكُمْ حَتَّىٰ تَسْتَأْنِسُوا وَتُسَلِّمُوا عَلَىٰ أَهْلِهَا
O ye who believe! enter not homes other than your own, until ye have asked permission and greeted those in them (Surah An-Nur 24:27)
 

Hadeeth :

 

1.Hazrat Anas bin Malik (RA) reported: Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said to me, “O son, when you enter your house, say As- Salamu ‘Alaikum to your family, for it will be a blessing both to you and to your family.” ~ [At-Tirmidhi].

2. Hazrat Sahl bin Sa’d Radiyallahu-Anhu reported: Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Seeking permission to enter (somebody’s house) has been prescribed in order to restrain the eyes (from looking at something we are not supposed to look at).” ~ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

3. Hazrat Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari Radiyallahu-Anhu reported: Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Permission is to be sought thrice. If it is accorded, you may enter; otherwise, go back.” ~ [Al- Bukhari and Muslim].

 4. Hazrat Jabir Radiyallahu-Anhu reported: I went to Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said and knocked at the door (to seek permission). He asked, “Who is there?” I said: “I”. He repeated, ” I, I?!” as if he disliked it. ~ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
