Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ Establishing Salaah

Excerpts from ~ Ramadaan 1436 Programmesbismillahh

Hazrat Jabir bin ‘Abdullah Radiyallahu Anhu narrated:  Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: The key to Paradise (Jannah) is Salaah, and the key to Salaah is Wudhu.

Islam is built on five pillars. After the Kalima, the next most important pillar of this structure of Deen, is Salaah. The implementation of Salaah becomes a great shield against sins and acts of disobedience. The very first A’mal (deed) concerning Huququllah (the rights of Allah), of which man will be questioned on the day of Qiyamah, will be Salaah.

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam had given a very stern warning regarding the person who abstains from performing Salaah. The Hadith mentions: “For the person who adheres to Salaah, on the Day of Resurrection, his Salaah will become a means of his Nur (light), Burhan (proof) and Najaat (salvation). And, for the person who discards it , there will be no Nur, no Burhan and no Najaat on that day. He will be (resurrected) with (evil ones like) Qaroon, Firoun, Hamaan and Ubay bin Khalaf”. [Ibn Hibban, Ahmed, Daarimi]

Hence we learn, that the one who fulfills the obligation of Salaat, will be immersed and surrounded by Noor (light) and glad tidings on the day of Qiyamah, BUT the one who discards this important pillar and foundation of Deen, will be in total darkness on that day and in the company of disbelievers.

. . .

Be Mindful of Your Salaah

Hazrat Ali Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that  the final words of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam when departing from this world were :

(Sunan Abu Dawud)

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam mentioned “  الصَّلاَةَ الصَّلاَةَ” … “As-Salaat , As-Salaat” twice … be mindful of your Salaah …  be mindful of your Salaah. Many are hasty in performing the postures of their Salaah.

Therefore, one should guard his Salaah by :

● Performing Wudhu correctly

Performing the Salaah at its prescribed time and being punctual.

● Performing the Salaah with Khushu and Khudoo (concentration and devotion) and great care should be taken not to be heedless and negligent in carrying out of the various postures (Qaumah, Ruku, Sujood, etc) of the Salaah. Many people rush through their Salaah…they barely stand up erect for Qaumah, after making Ruku’, and rush down into Sujood.

● Making a concerted effort in perfecting the Faraa’idh (compulsory actions), Sunnan (Sunnah actions), Mustahabbat (desirable acts) and Aadaab (etiquettes) of Salaah.

● Not discarding one’s Salaah during the day due to work activities, and then at night, cover up and read Qadha of all the missed Salaah of that day, at home.. Rather, one should read one’s Salaah at its prescribed times.

Salaah teaches one discipline, and if the Salaah becomes correct, then all other A’maal (deeds and actions) will automatically become correct.

Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ Masnoon Tasbeeh after Salaah

Excerpts from ~ Ramadaan 1436 Programmes

bismillahh

…

This simple Tasbihaat, if recited after every Fard Salaah and at night (before sleeping), reap tremendous rewards from Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala. The Hadith of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam mentions :

Hazrat Ka’b bin ‘Ujrah Radiyallahu Anhu reported: Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said
“There are some words, the reciters of which will never be disappointed. These are:

Tasbih
saying ‘Subhan-Allah’ (Allah is free from imperfection), thirty-three times,

Tahmid
saying ‘Al-hamdu lillah’ (Praise be to Allah) thirty-three times

and

Takbir
saying ‘Allahu Akbar’ (Allah is Greatest) thirty-four times;

and these should be recited after the conclusion of every prescribed prayer.”
~ Muslim

and in a similar Hadith ….

Hazrat Abu Hurayrah Radiyallahu Anhu reported :  Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said,: “Whoever glorifies Allah (says Subhaan Allah) thirty-three times immediately after each prayer, and praises Allah (says Al-hamdu Lillaah) thirty-three times, and magnifies Allah (says Allah hu akbar) thirty-three times, this makes ninety-nine, then to complete one hundred says Laa ilaaha ill-Allah wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer (There is no god except Allah Alone, with no partner, His is the power and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things) ~ his sins will be forgiven even if they are like the foam of the sea.” ~ Muslim

Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ The Great Rewards of Performing Whudu (Ablution)

Excerpts from ~ Ramadaan 1436 Programmes

bismillahh

Wudhu is a means of purification of the body as well as a means of expiation of one’s minor sins.

Hazrat ’Uthman bin ‘Affan Radiyallahu Anhu reported: Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “He who performs the Wudhu’ perfectly (i.e., according to Sunnah), his sins will depart from his body, even from under his nails.” ~ Muslim

The Hadith mentions, whoever makes a “proper, correct , perfect” Wudhu, i.e. : He observes all the Faraa’idh (compulsory actions), Sunnan (Sunnah actions), Mustahabbat (desirable acts) and Aadaab (etiquettes) of Wudhu, then all his (minor) sins will be forgiven. Ulema explain : that ‘sins being forgiven’ refers to the ‘minor sins’ being forgiven … For major sins a person has to make sincere Taubah and Istighfaar.

In a similar Hadith, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam mentions, all his past minor sins are forgiven and even his future minor sins are forgiven!

On the day of Qiyamah, the Believers will be distinguished from others, by the  radiance on the limbs that were washed in Wudhu. These limbs will be shining and radiant (like ornaments and jewellery) because of the traces of Wudhu. Hence great care should be taken as not to leave any portion of the skin dry (during Wudhu).

Hazrat ’Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu Anhu reported: I heard Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam saying: “On the Day of Resurrection, my followers (or Ummah) will be summoned ‘Al-Ghurr Al-Muhajjalun’ from the traces of Whudu’. Whoever can increase the area of his radiance should do so.” ~ Al-Bukhari

Dua to be Read after Whudu

Hazrat ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that : Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: ‘Whoever performs Whudu, making Whudu well, then says:

‘I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone, there are no partners for Him. And I testify that Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam is His servant and Messenger.
O Allah! Make me among the repentant, and make me among those who purify themselves.’

Then … the eight gates of Paradise are opened for him, he may enter by whichever of them wishes.”  ~ Tirmidhi

Whilst making wudhu, one should conscientize and remind oneself of the great rewards of performing this noble act of Ibaadah.

Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ Keep your Tongue Moist with the Remembrance of Allah

bismillahh

Hazrat Mu’adh bin Jabal (RA) said that the last words I heard from the Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) were, when I asked him: Which deeds are most favoured by Allah, He said: “To die and your tongue is moist with remembrance of Allah.” [Tabarani]

. . . .

This Hadith highlights the importance of engaging in Zikrullah at all times.

Instead of futile and indecent talks one should engage in Zikrullah.

When a person is going to making the Zikr of Allah, in abundance, with dedication and Yaqeen (conviction) in Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala … then the Noor of that Zikr is going to settle into his heart and move into every part of his body …

And then ….

When he will “see”, he will refrain from Haraam and look at “Halaal” only …

When he will “touch”, he will refrain from Haraam and he will touch Halaal only …

He will “walk” towards Halaal only and not towards Haraam …

His “thoughts” will be of that which is permissible and Halaal …

All this is because of the effect of Zikrullah!

So, the more Zikr a person makes, the more Noor permeates into his body, and this will enable him to do righteous and good actions throughout his life . . . till his Maut (death).

May Allah Ta’ala give us Taufeeq and Hidayat to make Amal.

Excerpts from ~ Ramadaan 1435 Programmesbismillahh

Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah RadhiAllahu Anhu reported: Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said:

“Every Muslim has five rights over another Muslim

(i.e., he has to perform five duties for another Muslim):

1. To return the Salaam
2. To visit the sick
3. To attend the Janaazah (funeral)
4. To accept an invitation
5. To respond to the sneezer
[i.e., to say: `Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah bestow His Mercy on you),’ when the sneezer praises Allah].”
