Explanation of the Masnoon Dua ~ For Continuous Well-Being and Retaining of the Favors of Allah Ta’ala

Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar رضي الله عنه reports that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم

prayed thus:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَعُوْذُبِكَ مِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ وَتَحَوُّلِ عَافِيَتِكَ وَ فُجَاءَةِ نِقْمَتِكَ وَجَمِيْعِ سَخَطِكَ

“Allahuma Inni a’oozubika min zawaali n’imatika wa tahawwuli aafiyatika wa fujaa’ati niqmatika wa jamee’ee sakhatik.”

”O Allah! I seek refuge in You, from the extinction of Your favors (upon us), and from the safety/protection (you have given us) being transformed into a calamity, and from Your sudden punishment and from every displeasure of Yours.”

Duas for Acquiring Purification of the Heart and Attaining Good Character

اللَّهُمَّ طَهِّرْ قَلْبِي مِنَ النِّفَاقِ وَعَمَلِي مِنَ الرِّيَاءِ وَلِسَانِي مِنَ الْكَذِبِ وَعَيْنِي مِنَ الْخِيَانَةِ

فَإِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ خَائِنَةَ الأَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِي الصُّدُورُ

Allahumma tahhir qalbee minan-nifaaq, wa ‘amali minar riya, wa lisaani minal kazib, wa ‘ayni minal khiyaanati, fa innaka ta’alamu khaainatal a’yuni wa ma tukhfis sudoor.

‘O Allah! Purify my heart from hypocrisy, my deeds from any kind of riya (ostentation), my tongue from lying, and my eye from treachery. For indeed You know the treachery of the eyes and what the hearts conceal.’ ~ [Baihiqi]

Four Phrases that are Extremely Weighty on the Scales of Good Deeds

Hadith:

Hazrat Juwairiyah bint Al-Harith RadhiyAllahu Anha (the Mother of the Believers) reported :

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam left my home in the morning as I completed my Fajr prayer. He came back(later) in the forenoon and found me still sitting on my musalla. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Are you still in the same position as I left you.” I replied in the affirmative. Thereupon Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “I recited four words three times after I had left you. If these are to be weighed against all what you have recited since morning, these will be heavier.

The words are:

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ وَرِضَا نَفْسِهِ وَزِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ وَمِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ

Subhaan-Allahi wa bihamdihi
`adada khalqihi, wa ridha nafsihi, wa zinata `arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi

I Glorify Allah ( ie He is free from imperfection) with His praise, as many times as the number of His creatures, in accordance with His Good Pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne and equal to the ink that may be used in recording the words (for His Praise)

Dua for Expressing Shukr for the Favours (Ni’mats) of Allah Upon Us and Our Parents

قَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي فِي ذُرِّيَّتِي

My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring ~ Surah Al Ahkaaf 46:15

A person who supplicates to Allah with the dua in the above Verse, is asking Allah for ‘3’ Important things that are essential for true happiness and success in his life:

1 • Allah Ta’ala must grant one the ability (taufeeq) to make Shukr upon the Ni’mats (bounties) HE bestowes upon one.

2 • Allah Ta’ala must give one the Taufeeq of Obeying Him by doing pious deeds that will please Him.

3 • Allah Ta’ala must grant righteousness and piety to ones progeny.
