يَا أَيُّهَا الرُّسُلُ كُلُوا مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَاعْمَلُوا صَالِحًا ۖ إِنِّي بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ
[ Allah said], “O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed, I, of what you do, am Knowing ~ Surah Mu’minun 23:51

Ahadeeth

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radiyallaahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said,

“Verily, Allah is Pure and He only accepts pure. And indeed Allah commanded the Believers what He commanded the Messengers. He said:
‘O Messengers, eat of the pure things and perform righteous acts. Verily, I am Well-Aware of what you do.’

And He said O you who believe! Eat of the good things that We have provided you with, and give thanks to Allah if Him it is that you serve.’

The narrator of the hadith says: Then he (i.e. Rasulullah Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) made mention of a man who undertakes long journeys and has dishevelled hair and a dusty appearance (due to the long tedious journey) and who raises his hands towards the sky saying “O my Rabb. O my Rabb”…… But his food is from haraam, his drink is from haraam, his clothes are from haraam, he is nourished from haraam. How can his prayer then be accepted?” ~ Muslim

It was narrated that Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu-Anhu said: “Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: ‘There will come a time when a man will not care where his wealth comes from, whether (the source is) Halal or Haram.” ~ Sahih Bukhari

1. Means of Chastity

In order to preserve the chastity and modesty of ones own womenfolk, keep away from womenfolk of others ie. do not cast lustful glances at other women and your own womenfolks chastity and modesty will be protected. This is the means of maintaining chastity.

2. Humilty A Treasure

Developing and maintaining Humility (Tawaadhu) is extremely beneficial. Whoever lowers himself for the sake of ALLAH Ta’aala, then ALLAH will elevate his status. Whoever shows pride and arrogance will be destroyed by ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala.

Pride must be removed from the heart because the one who has even a speck of pride in his heart will not be permitted to enter Jannat.

3. Pocket Money for the Wife

It is the right of the wife that she be allocated some pocket money for her own personal use (over above what is allocated to household expenditure).

It is also wise to make a list of assets and rightful owners between husband and wife to avoid confusion should one or the other spouse pass away.

4. Treat the Womenfolk with Kindness

Womenfolk/wives must be treated with kindness. The wife must be taken care of and appreciated for two principle reasons:

• Firstly, she is like a captive and it is unmanly and cowardly to maltreat a captive.

• Secondly, the husband does not know what her status is in the eyes of ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala. It is highly possible that by Allah Ta’ala she holds the same position as the husband or even higher.

….

5) Remedy for Anxiety

Entrust all ones affairs to ALLAH Azza wa Jal. One need not be overly-anxious .. All that is necessary is to adopt the means at ones disposal and then entrust ones affair to ALLAH. Be pleased with whatever HE decrees.

6. Avarice the Root of all Evil

Avarice (Greed) is the root of all evil. It causes arguments and fights, and even leads to court cases.

The effects of greed are worse than the devastation caused by two hungry wolves upon a flock of sheep.

In the absence of greed, nobody will oppress another. Further, the notion that when the demand for greed is fulfilled, the person will become satiated, is false.
If a man has two valleys of gold, he will desire for the third…
‘Nothing fills the stomach of greed except the sand of the Qabr’

In order to establish a connection with ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala, Islaah (purification of the nafs) is essential. This is enabled by keeping the company of the pious, listening to majaalis about sulook, abstinence from sin and suppression of the ego, all for the sake of ALLAH Rabbul Izzat.

The Sahaaba-e-Kiraam did everything with Ikhlaas (sincerity) and maintained a constant consciousness of ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala.  They always remained concerned about the acceptance of their deeds.

We are constantly reminded by our Mashaa’ikh that we should be  alive to the fact that ‘ALLAH IS ALWAYS WATCHING US’.

……

An Explanation of Some Selected Malfoozaat of Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi (RA) :

1- The essence of a noble character is ‘not to give takleef’ to the creation of Allah,  ie not to trouble, annoy or hinder anyone. One should never hurt or harm any makhlooq of ALLAH Ta’aala.

2- When somebody asks something, never ignore the person or keep him waiting for an answer unnecessarily. This is disrespectful.

3- Refrain from sin. Develop courage and make a conscious and sincere effort to abstain from sin.
[‘Islaah bila Mujaahadah’ (reformation without effort) is impossible. However, when a slave of ALLAH takes even a few steps toward HIM, ALLAH Rabbul Izzat comes running toward him. ALLAH appreciates the little effort of HIS servant.]

Courage is cultivated by being in the company of a Kaamil Shaykh.

4- The effect of sincere Tauba over sins, even if one has comitted sins that fill the entire World, is like dynamites that blow and destroy huge mountains…

5- The Greater Jihad (Jihad-e-Akbar) is the overpowering of the Nafs (base desires). Remember Shaytaan did not have another Shaytaan leading him astray… It was his nafs!

6- True contentment is based on ones relationship with the Deen and ALLAH Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala. You will find that he who has Deen and a little Dunya is content and has a pleasant life.

Many are those who have Dunya but no Deen, and live an empty and unpleasant life.

Sometimes the observer of such people is fooled into thinking otherwise, because of the external luxuries, or because the observer himself does not know the reality of genuine happiness.

Real happiness and comfort (Rahat) should not be confused with the means of happiness and comfort (Asbaab-e-Rahat).

7-  There are two qualities which are more vigorous (prominent) in females viz the fervour to make khidmat (serve) others;and chastity.

Becoming the ‘Friend (Wali) of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala

Excerpts from ~ Ramadaan 1434 Programmes

bismillahh

اللَّهُ يَجْتَبِي إِلَيْهِ مَن يَشَاءُ وَيَهْدِي إِلَيْهِ مَن يُنِيبُ
Allah chooses to Himself those whom He pleases, and guides to Himself those who turn (to Him).  ~ [Surah Ash Shura 42:13]

  …

Indeed the doors of Nubuwwat are certainly closed. There are no more Nabi’s to come. Our Nabi Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam was Khaatam an-Nabiyyin (Seal of Prophethood), however, the doors of “Wilaayat” (friendship) of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala have not closed …

Despite all the challenges we are faced with today, if we are still ‘obedient’ to Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala, why wont Allah become happy with us? Why wont He include us in the list of His friends? Perhaps due to our weaknesses, we may be unable to reach the very high standard and rank of the Wali’s of the past, as their connection with Allah was much stronger, but it does not mean that we can not become the Friends of Allah …..That list continues …

No matter how sinful we may be, but if we turn to Allah Taala and make sincere Taubah, Istighfaar, and become His true obedient slaves,  if Allah wishes, He will make us His Friends…

When Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala selects a person and includes him in that list of His friends, nobody can remove him from it! That person is then successful … He becomes Allah’s friend … He has a special connection with Allah …
