The Significance of Jumuah

bismillahh

O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu’ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew ~ Surah Al Jumu’ah  62:9

11 – Seek the hour: Rasulallah (SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) said: “There is such an hour on Friday that if any Muslim makes dua (supplication) in it, his dua will definitely be accepted.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

12 – Increase sending Durood upon Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam   (Abu Dawood, Ibn Majah)

The Power Surge of the Heart and the Generator of Zikrullah 2

The Power Surge of the Heart and the Generator of Zikrullah 2

Last week, this time we were experiencing ‘load shedding’. When there is no electricity and everything is in darkness, it becomes difficult for people to function normally. Similarly, this heart too, experiences  “loadshedding” when it is engulfed in darkness and when the effects of vices and sin envelopes it. We then, have to generate this heart of ours, with the Zikr of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala and light up this heart, lest our lives remain in darkness.

Alhamdulillah, now that we do have light, and are pre-warned of loadshedding via schedules and timetables, then one is able to prepare ahead of time. So, in the event of loadshedding … people, homes, buildings, businesses, institutions and factories are equipped with generators, emergency lights, torches and candles that are purchased to manage the situation.

Similarly, when we find ourselves in an environment that is covered in darkness due to the evil of sins (drinking, partying, free mixing), and we are forced to take this route (on our journey to our destination, perhaps by air)… then, (for that duration) when a Mu’min (Believer) is surrounded by such darknesses, his generator (light in his heart) automatically switches on! He does not become affected by the darkness around him. This Noor (Light) of strong Imaan, Taqwa and Zikrullah enables him to survive and overcome the darkness.

What happens when one is not prepared?

What happens when one does not have a candle or generator?
One will remain in darkness……

Similarly, one who is not prepared when surrounded by such darkness, becomes overwhelmed and joins with the darkness that is prevalent around him. May Allah Taala protect us.

Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala discusses the believers who will possess light on the Day of Qiyaamah……..The light and Noor of their A’maal (Deeds) and Imaan (Faith) :

“On the Day when you will see the believing men and the believing women- their Light running in front of them and to their right hands, (it will be said to them): “Good News for you this Day! Gardens beneath which riversflow! to dwell therein for ever! This is indeed the highest Achievement!” – Surah Al-Hadid 57:12

and the Munaafiq (Hypocrites), who will not have any light :

On the [same] Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed, “Wait for us that we may acquire some of your light.” It will be said, “Go back behind you and seek light.” And a wall will be placed between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is torment ~ Surah Al-Hadid 57:13

Therefore a Mu’min has to have good A’maal (Deeds) in his life. He has to strengthen and preserve his Imaan. He has to remove all the darkness that has pervaded his heart, with the light of the Zikr of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala. When everything will be dark, then the light of good A’maal (Deeds) will become a means of Noor for the person, in the Qabr, and on the Day of Qiyamah when crossing Pulsiraat.

Righteous deeds (A’maal e Sawlihah) have a Noor which will help a person on the day of Qiyamah. That person who does not have Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala in his life, and instead enjoys the Zulumaat (Darkness) of vice and evil, then his entire life will be wretched, miserable and he will be in darkness in the Hereafter.

However, no matter how dark our hearts may be, but when we come into the company of pious people who’s ‘generators are on’ and whose hearts are lit up with the flame of the love of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala, then the intensity and brightness of the lights of these pious hearts that are always illuminated,  light up the darkness of our hearts. Our dead and dark hearts gain this current and become brightened and full of Noor.

The enemy of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala are trying to wipe out this Light/ Noor of Deen …

Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala says :

They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah refuses except to perfect His light,

although the disbelievers dislike it ~ Surah Taubah 9:32

Hence, we ought to strengthen the lights of Imaan we have in our hearts with Zikrullah. ….

[All] praise is [due] to Allah , who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance. [He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward. In which they will remain forever. And to warn those who say, ” Allah has taken a son.”.They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie. Then perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, [O Muhammad], if they do not believe in this message, [and] out of sorrow. Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed. And indeed, We will make that which is upon it [into] a barren ground. Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder? [Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, “Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.” ~ Surah Al Kahf 18:1-10
