Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ Being ‘Sadooqul Lisaan’ (Truthful of Tongue) and ‘Makhmumul Qalb’ (Pure of Heart)

Excerpts from ~ Ramadaan 1435 Programmesbismillahh

Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr RA says that Rasulullah ﷺ was asked: “Who among men is the best?” He (ﷺ) replied: “Everyone who is pure of heart (**Makhmumul Qalb) and truthful of tongue (*Sadooqul Lisaan).” They enquired: “Truthful of Tongue“—we know what this is. But what is “Makhmumul Qalb”? He (ﷺ) said : “It is (the heart) that is pure and pious upon which there is no sin, transgression, deceit, malice or envy in it.”

~ Sunan Ibn Majah

We find in the Ahadeeth of Rasulullah  ﷺ, there is great emphasis on speaking the truth and having a Qalbe-Saleem (pure clean heart).

These two Arabic words in this Hadith : Sadooqul Lisaan and Makhmumul Qalb, highlight the importance of these characteristics.

 *Sadooqul Lisaan : A person who is truthful and who’s tongue always utters that which is correct (not false).

When a person speaks lies, then those angels that are around him, move far away from him, because of the odour and the stench that emanates from the persons mouth.

**Makhmumul Qalb : Literally, the word means, ‘the heart must be swept’ (cleansed). That heart which is pure, clean, pious, righteous. It has no sin on it. There are no black spots on this heart. There are no traces of malice in it.

• Rasulullah ﷺ said, “Whosoever gives me a guarantee that he will safeguard what is between his jaws (the tongue) and what is between his legs (the private parts), I shall guarantee him Jannah.” (Bukhari)

Concerning malice and jealousy, our good A’amaal are destroyed because of these traits.

• Rasulullah ﷺ said, “Beware of jealousy, for indeed jealousy consumes one’s good deeds like fire consumes wood.” (Sunan Abi Dawud)

• Hazrat Anas bin Malik reported: Rasulullah ﷺ said to me, “O boy, if you are able every morning and evening to remove any rancor from your heart towards anyone, then do so.” Then Rasulullah  ﷺ  said to me, “O boy, that is my tradition (sunnah) and whoever revives my tradition has loved me, and whoever loves me will be with me in Paradise.”(Tirmidhi)

Let us talk less…  Control our tongues …  Speak the truth … Be honest … and reach our Allah with a Qalbe-Saleem (pure clean heart)

Hadith

Hazrat Abu Kabshah al-Anmari RA narrates that Rasulullah

said, “There are three things which I swear to be true, and I shall tell you a Hadith, so keep it in mind

The Three things which I swear to be true are ;

(1) Giving Sadaqah (charity) does not reduce one’s wealth ;

(2) If anyone is oppressed and he faces it with patience, Allah Ta’ala will increase his honour ;

(3) If anyone begins to beg (from people), Allah Ta’ala opens up the doors of poverty on him…

And the Hadith that I am going to tell you to keep in mind, is that the World has only Four types of people:

1) A man whom Allah provides with wealth and knowledge, in which he fears his Lord and joins ties of relationship, acting in it as is due to Him for the sake of Allah,  is in the most excellent position.

2) A man whom Allah provides with knowledge but not with wealth, who says with a sincere intention that if, he had wealth he would act as so and so does, their reward will be equal.

3) A man whom Allah provides with wealth but not with knowledge, in which he acts in a random manner ignorantly, not fearing his Lord regarding it, or using it to join ties of relationship, or dealing with it in a right way, this man is in the worst condition.

4) A man whom Allah provides with neither wealth nor knowledge, who says that if he had wealth he would deal with it as so and so does and has the above mentioned evil intention, the sin they have to bear being equal.”

Hadith

Hazrat Abu Sa’eed Khudri RA reported that Hazrat Mu’awiya RA went to a gathering in the mosque and said:

What makes you sit here? They said: We are sitting here in order to remember Allah. He said: I adjure you by Allah (to tell me whether you are sitting here for this very purpose)? They said: By Allah, we are sitting here for this very purpose.

Thereupon, he said: I have not demanded you to take an oath, because of any allegation against you. And no one in my rank, being so close to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) has narrated so few Ahadith as I have. The fact is that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) went out to the circle of his Companions and said: What makes you sit here? They said: We are sitting here in order to remember Allah and to praise Him for He guided us to the path of Islam and He conferred favours upon us.

Thereupon he adjured by Allah and asked if that only was the purpose of their sitting there. They said: By Allah, we are not sitting here but for this very purpose, whereupon he (the Messenger ﷺ) said: I am not asking you to take an oath because of any allegation against you but for the fact that Jibra’eel AS came to me and he informed me that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, was boasting to the Angels about your magnificence.

Hadith

……

Hazrat Abu Hurairah RA said : that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “Who among you will learn from me these five advices and practise upon these advices, or teach it to somebody who will practice upon them? ”

Hazrat Abu Hurairah RA replied, “I will do so, Oh Rasulullah!”

Hazrat Abu Hurairah RA said, “So he (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) held my hand and mentioned five advices :

1. Save yourself from all those things that Allah has made Haraam upon you, then you will be the greatest of worshippers.

2. Be content with whatever Allah has decreed for you, and you will be the richest of people.

3. Be kind to your neighbour, then you will be a true believer.

4. Love for makind what you love for yourself and you will be a (true) Muslim.

5. Do not laugh in abundance, for excessive laughter kills (destroys the spirituality of) the heart.”

Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ Going Early for Salaatul Jumuah and Listening to the Khutbah

bismillahh

Hadith

Narrated by Hazrat Abu Hurairah RA

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said, “When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram (with horns) and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumuah prayer) they (i.e. angels) they fold up their scrolls and get ready to listen to the Khutbah.” ~ Sahih al-Bukhari
