Lessons from Hadith Shareef ~ Friday (Jumu’ah) The Best Day of the Week

Excerpts from ~ Ramadaan 1436 Programmes

bismillahh

Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “The best day that the sun has risen upon, is Friday. On it Adam (AS) was created, on it he entered Paradise, and on that day, he was expelled from Paradise. And the Hour of Qiyaamah will not be established except on Friday.” ~ (Tirmidhi)

From all the months of the year, Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala chose Ramadaan to be the best of months, and from all the days of the week, Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala chose Jumu’ah (Friday) as ‘Sayyidul Ayyaam’ (the leader of all days).

Furthermore, the superiority of Sadaqah that is given in Ramadan, reaps more rewards, than charity given in any other month of the year. Similarly, Sadaqah that is given on a Friday, is better and reaps more rewards, than charity given on any other day of the week.

In addition to this, being a blessed day, great emphasis has been put on ‘Salaatul Jummah’  which is the largest and best congregational Salaah of all the days of the week. Whomsoever is neglectful of this virtuous prayer on a Friday and avoids praying it, Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala will place a seal over their hearts and they will be counted amongst the heedless.

Moments of Acceptance of Duas on a Friday

Amongst the numerous virtues of Jumu’ah, Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala has kept a certain unspecified hour on the day of Friday, wherein a Believer’s supplications (Duas) are accepted. According to various Ahadeeth, the majority of the Ulema mention, that, these moments of guaranteed acceptance, are on a Friday, after the Asr Salaah (ie the time before the Maghrib Salaah). The fervent supplications of a servant to Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala are answered during this blessed time.

Hazrat Anas bin Malik Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that : Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “Seek out the hour that is hoped for on Friday (for dua), after Asr until the sun has set” ~ (Tirmidhi)

Hazrat Anas bin Malik Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: Whoever says when he leaves his house :

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ

Bismillāh, tawakkaltu `alAllāh, la ḥawla wa la quwwata illa billāh **

“In the Name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, there is no might or power except by Allah” ; then it will be said to him : “You have been guided, you have been sufficed, you have been protected, and Shaytaan distances himself away from the person.”
( Tirmidhi)

** There are four benefits in reading this Dua:
1) One is granted Hidaayah (guidance)
2) One’s needs will be fulfilled
3) One is granted protection from harm
4) One is granted safety from Shaytaan.

……

Tawakkul means having complete trust and firm reliance in Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala alone. Allah Ta’ala is Al-Wakeel (the Disposer of Affairs) and upon whom one should place one’s trust in.

Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala has placed us into Darul Asbaab (a world of means). We have been commanded to make use of all the permissible means that Allah has provided us with, BUT our reliance must NEVER be upon those means.

One must make use of means, believing that the “means” cannot produce any effect on its own. It is only Allah Taala who causes effect.

Sayiddina Umar ibnul-Khattaab (RA) was once passing by a group of farmers, sitting with some spades and shovels. He enquired from them, as to what were they doing there. They replied that they are waiting there, for their crops to grow ( without making any necessary effort for the sowing of seeds etc)….We are those who have Tawakkul upon Allah! He then enquired from them, as to whether they had sowed the seeds? They replied in the negative. He replied that they are then, not people of Tawwakul, as one has to tie one’s camel first (make an effort himself,) and then place reliance ONLY on Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta’ala to obtain the desired results.

In the battle of Uhud, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, wore two armours! This was not against Tawwakkul . Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam took the necessary means and thereafter made Dua to Allah Ta’ala to protect them from the enemy and grant them victory.

There are numerous Ayaat in the Quraan Shareef that clearly establish the Tawakkul of the Believer. When Hazrat Ibraheem (Alayhis Salaam) was thrown in the fire by the idol worshippers of his time, the Angels came down offering their assistance to him. He replied to them that He is seeking the assistance of Allah Ta’ala alone and relies on Him alone … He cried out : حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ …. Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.

Those who firmly place their trust in Allah, He makes all matters easy for them.
